Art educators can often find it to be a struggle to create art lessons that students will connect with. In some cases, art projects can seem too open ended, and students may struggle to create a single, cohesive idea. On the other hand, if the requirements are too strict, students may feel apathetic about the lack of creative freedom.
Twinimation Studios would like to recommend educational material which give aspiring artists the freedom to craft individualized projects while still meeting curriculum requirements.
1. Become an Artist on a Budget Workshop
It might come as a surprise that one of the main deterrents in taking the first step down the path entering any art field is the cost. Price of art lessons, supplies, software, etc.
That is the precise reason why we crafted the Becoming an Artist on a Budget Workshop. This workshop is a guide for young aspiring artists filled with numerous practices to start working toward a learning plan without having so spend a fortune.
Rather than dictating that students follow a specific set of instructions, learners given multiple perspectives and options regarding different methods of learning digital art skills such as illustration, animation, painting, etc. Additionally, students will also be given a wide array of potential pathways to a career in the art field. It isn't always common knowledge the types of major jobs that one can enter in the world of animation or illustration, so we list off several possibilities within the session, allowing artists a starting point to move forward from.
2. Animation Through the Ages Series
Animation Through the Ages is a three part animation course providing lessons on how to approach designing characters, animating, and editing in three different styles across history. Across over 100 lessons, students learn how to create short films in the Rubberhose, Golden Age, and U.P.A. Limited styles. This allows aspiring artists to not only learn animation skills, but also information about the art world from the 1920's-1960s.
Many of Twinimation Studios' course materials feature a "recommended projects" section at the end of each course, and Animation Through The Ages is no exception. This is to give newer artists a guiding hand toward their first animated projects. Our Animation Through the Ages series is a prime example. Following the final lesson, students will receive a list of personal art projects categorized from beginner to advanced.
With proper guidance, students will be able to master three different animation techniques at their preferred pace through personal projects.
3. Kreating Komics in Krita
Comic creation is a common hobby for school students who love to tell stories and illustrate. And luckily it is also the perfect pathway to other art forms such as animation, film, and illustration.
Kreating Komics is Krita is a fun mini-course which teaches young artists how to quickly and easily create digital comic panels in the free drawing and animation program, Krita.
Twinimation Studios courses sports community discussion pages, so students can post their progress, ideas, and tips with other artists. This allows students the freedom the create new ideas for their works through collaborating with others. Instead of only following strict guidelines, having a collection of voices will open the door to infinite possibilities for inspiration and execution.
4. Digital Painting for Beginners
Traditional painting has been a popular pass-time for generations, however the space of digital painting remains niche. We crafted this digital painting course in order to teach younger artists how to use these powerful tools to create realistic paintings without the use of paint and canvas.
Rebelle 8 is a highly advanced program which allows artists to create extremely realistic paintings entirely though digital software. Visually, the most skilled of painters can create works that can't be differentiated from traditional paintings.
This course intentionally follows the painting style of Bob Ross, who always emphasized the importance of freestyle painting to the painter's desires. We chose to emulate his style so that those new to digital painting wouldn't feel pressured into creating perfect works or sticking to realism. Rather, students are free to paint as realistically and accurately as they choose, or deviate from the reference to create their own unique paintings.
5. Musical Bundle
Though our main focus is on the digital arts, we often come across numerous young artists who have a passion for performance as well. As such, Twinimation Studios, in collaboration with Mary's Musical Enrichment, have created a special bundle where theater and drawing collide!
This specialized bundle focuses on Mary Resenbeck's Voices of the Nile original play, and the entire script is included. Additionally we provide three character design lessons along with audio samples for the musical. Students will be able to freely craft their own production and learn skills to translate the theatrical characters to high quality illustrations.
The Musical Kreatives community space grants all participants an outlet to share their scriptwriting process, artistic developments, and more. All students are encouraged to invite creativity in order to birth new ideas for their musical productions and artwork.
These are only a few of Twinimation Studios' digital art learning programs which encourage student led practices. We strongly believe that allowing students the freedom to craft their own projects strengthens an artists creativity and love of the arts.
